This week I was again reminded of the importance of listening to my intuition and gut instincts.
While I won’t bore you with all the details, what I will share is that I was approached by a colleague last year to take on a client in my career/personal branding coaching business.
Taking on this client meant that I was going to have to change the way I worked and follow an approach that went entirely against my policies and my principles.
Big red flag: My gut instinct/intuition told me that I shouldn’t take on this client, however because I received a personal request (i.e. desperate plea) from one of my colleagues I pushed aside the alarm bells and said yes.
Big mistake: Now that we are some 12 months on, the initial concerns that I had have come to fruition. [No big surprise…]
Big reality check: I should have gone with my gut instincts and not compromised myself or my work.
Big lesson: a great reminder that these policies have been put into place for a reason and that they are there to prevent these situations from occurring.
Next time? There WON”T be a next time. These policies and principles are there to prevent there ever being a next time…. I can use this situation as a reminder and powerful lesson that it’s important for me to stay true to my core values, my policies and principles AND to listen to my intuition.
What about you? Are you listening to your intuition?
